About

SAVES (Skills for Academic, Vocational, and English Studies) is an innovative refugee/asylee/entrant program that meets the instructional and employment needs of refugees/asylees/entrants. This website provides information to refugees and the community-at-large about facets of the SAVES refugee program at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The goal of the SAVES program is to help qualified individuals learn the language and a skill which will in turn help them to become taxpayers and better members of our community. In many instances, the program has aided students with paying for their books, tuition, bus passes and may pay for a student’s FPL bill. The SAVES program provides individuals with free interpreters or other communication assistance for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. The SAVES program also provides free interpreter services in all languages for the general SAVES population.
